13th Week of Solidarity celebrates 25th anniversary of Terra Livre
The partnership between Terra Livre and Dowling Catholic High School, Iowa, USA, started in 2005, has once again been a success: June 2nd to 8th, a group of American teachers and students participated, in Aparecida de Goiânia – GO, in the 13th edition of the Week of Solidarity.
In 2020 and 2021 there were no editions of the Exchange Program, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The restoration, now, was an achievement in the same year Terra Livre celebrates 25 years of socio-educational activities, which have benefited over 30 thousand youths – children and teenagers.
The Young volunteers experienced SOLIDARITY among our institution and Brazil itself. That experience occurred thanks to the active involvement in the activities prepared by TERRA LIVRE and in direct contact with the children. They also watched a set of thematic lectures about the social reality in Brazil and visited the families of children who attend and are helped by the NGO (non-governmental organization).
The Week of Solidarity also counted on donations its volunteers: R$ 23.750,00 were raised – an amount that supports approximately 12 students for four months on TL.
Terra Livre thanks and appreciates Castro’s Park Hotel, a partner since 2003, which offered to accommodate the adult volunteers and granted the spaces used for the lectures during the event.
Appreciation goes also to the host families, who received with open arms the young volunteers.
Gratitude to the visitors and all associates who contributed to the Week’s success.
IT IS EASY TO ACT WITH GOODNESS!
